Introducing the EV Charging Highway
Charge+, a leading EV charging provider in Southeast Asia, announces plans to develop a 5,000km EV charging highway across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The highway will provide access to 45 DC fast charging locations for EV drivers.
Boosting Confidence in Long-Distance EV Usage
The EV charging highway aims to address the concerns of prospective EV buyers regarding long-distance travel and cross-border challenges. The project will help overcome the lack of charging infrastructure, especially in remote areas, and simplify the process of using different charging Apps and making payments in different currencies. This initiative will boost confidence in EVs as the primary mode of transportation in Southeast Asia.
Subheading 3: Strategic Partnerships and Expansion
Charge+ has confirmed 18 charging locations for the first phase of the project, including urban charging hubs in key cities like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi. These stations will be operational by the end of 2024. An additional 27 locations, owned by Charge+ and strategic partners, will be ready by the end of 2025. This expansion will ensure a comprehensive charging network for EV drivers.
During the announcement at the Future Mobility Asia summit, Charge+ also revealed its strategic partnership with EGAT, the Thai state-owned enterprise responsible for energy generation and distribution. EGAT will provide a site in Thap Sakae, south of Bangkok, for a DC charging station. Charge+ users will be able to seamlessly access EGAT charging stations in Thailand through the Charge+ App.
Goh Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+, expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing its potential to change perceptions and provide confidence to EV drivers. Ong Tze Boon, Chairman of Charge+, highlighted the company’s vision to promote electric mobility and enhance the EV charging experience in Southeast Asia.
As Southeast Asia takes a significant step forward in establishing a robust EV charging infrastructure, Charge+ remains committed to its mission of catalyzing electric mobility and creating a seamless experience for EV drivers in the region.
