Thailand Post’s 5 Key Transportation Tasks for 2023 General Election
As a national agency for communications and transportation, Thailand Post is ready to support the 2023 General Election with their five key transportation tasks. These include delivering notifications of eligible voters, candidate introduction documents, general election ballots and equipment, advance voting ballots inside and outside constituencies, and sending and responding to mail notifying householders to vote early, both outside and inside the constituency. Thailand Post has also scheduled over 500 trips to deliver ballots and equipment to 400 districts, and the deliveries are monitored by the Royal Thai Police and a remote 24-hour GPS system.
Thailand Post has partnered with the Royal Thai Police to ensure the security of the election ballots and equipment during transportation. The Royal Thai Police have assigned patrols of police officers to escort the ballots throughout their journey with armed patrolmen and undercover officers, each experienced in handling incidents. Thailand Post has also established the “Election Ballot Coordination Center for the 2023 General Election to the House of Representatives” for sorting and verifying ballots, with security operations reported to pertinent agencies using CCTV, GPS, and other technologies. The center will also provide convenience for the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) and other pertinent agencies during the election process.
Thailand Post’s support for the 2023 General Election highlights their readiness to deliver advance voting and postal voting ballots inside and outside the Kingdom, along with other deliveries connected with the election. As part of their Get Out the Vote campaign, the ECT has composed a song called “Democracy is in our Hands” to encourage the people of Thailand to be aware of the power of their vote, and to inspire confidence that the process is transparent and traceable.
