The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the ‘Vijitr’ lighting extravaganza events across Thailand’s five regions, taking place between April and June 2023. This initiative aims to promote meaningful travel experiences and sustainable tourism, leveraging event marketing for a more immersive and memorable experience for domestic tourists.
Minister of Tourism and Sports, H.E. Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, stated that ‘Vijitr’ lighting in 5 regions extravaganza leverages event marketing to inspire more travel and overnight stays in different provinces. The project is expected to help distribute tourism income in all five regions through storytelling and the use of light, colour and sound attractions.
“Vijitr Lighting Extravaganza” Event Details
The ‘Vijitr’ extravagant light-and-sound events will take place in Central, Northeastern, Northern, Southern, and Eastern Regions, with each region having its own unique program.
Central Region will host the “Mu Light Experiences – Vijitr Mu-te-lu” from April 29-May 7 at various locations in Bangkok. The event will include multimedia water feature, lighting, projection mapping and 3D lighting installation elements, along with various other activities.
Northeastern Region will host the “Vijitr Nakhon Phanom – The City of Happiness on the Mekong River” from May 27-June 4 on the banks of the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom. The event will include a light and sound show with mapping and light up features, together with many other fun activities.
Southern Region will host the “Vijitr – The Story of Nakhon Si Thammarat” from May 20-28 at various landmarks in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The event will feature 3D mapping, light up, light installation, city tour and storytelling techniques, and various other activities at various landmarks.
Northern Region will host the “Vijitr @ Chiang Rai: Wiang of Light” from May 20-28 at various landmarks in Chiang Rai. The event will feature light and sound performance activities with 3D mapping, light up, light installation, and 3D projection techniques, with the charm of the Lanna civilization.
Eastern Region will host the “Vijitr @ Rayong: The City of Happiness in the East” from May 27-June 4 at Mangrove Forest Learning Center, Phra Chedi Klang Nam, Rayong. The event will include projection mapping onto an island in the water, the colourful underwater world of jellyfish, lighting show at the Bridge of Fine Way, fireworks display, and music performances by leading artists, over an area of more than 2 sq km and designed to be ‘a land beyond imagination’.

The ‘Vijitr’ lighting extravaganza across Thailand’s five regions is TAT’s initiative to boost tourism in the country, promoting meaningful travel experiences and sustainable tourism practices. These events will provide a more immersive and memorable experience to domestic tourists and inspire more travel and overnight stays in different provinces, ultimately benefiting the tourism income in all five regions.
